The Best of the Worst
CANADALAND fills a massive void in the Canadian news landscape, but I wish it was able to do more. Because of its self-important focus on how media covers the story rather than the story itself, it limits its scope and power. Mirroring this, Jesse Brown’s arrogance and self-importance limits how many episode’s I can listen to. If “Canada’s #1 Podcast” were to “cover systemic racism in the RCMP”, rather than cover “how the media has covered systemic racism in the RCMP and how Jesse Brown is an outsider who doesn’t care what CBC thinks”, then I would listen to every episode and be an ongoing Patreon supporter. As it stands, I’ll continue to listen to a few episodes here or there, wishing that “Canada’s #1 Podcast” was everything it could be.

I would rather listen to this brilliant critique of the Canadian media (whilst vehemently agreeing) than watch it. Bravo.

Jesse Brown is breaking through the “politeness” of Canadian society and media, and showing what truly lies beneath: a pack of lies and a crumbling democracy.
