domestic violence and mass murders
I love your podcast and was satisfied with your coverage of recent events in Saskatchewan. However the discussion / comparison with NS glossed over two significant concerns. First, the linkage between gender based violence and mass murders. The mass murders in NS and Saskatchewan both had a history of violence towards intimate partners … which can be link to an increase in intensity and incidences of violence towards community members and strangers. All of which are bad - and worth our outrage. Second, you can not compare their criminal records without considering race. The NS mass murder should have had a similar record but was not prosecute for domestic violence, illegal arms, stealing, assault and harassment. In the eyes of some of the police - He was just one of the guys. In any case, it would be good to look into these and other incidents from a gender and race perspective. Ask what are the precursors/ early warning signs?

The Short Cuts format, although growing in length is just getting better. Short, sharp, insightful discussions that truly reflect Canadian values of compassion, understanding and discussion based criticism. Keep up the great work Jesse
