ENG 333 The Short Story: In this episode I read A&P by John Updike. This story strikes me because a seemingly small encounter really effects this young man in such a big way.

This is a short story written by Tillie Olsen in 1961. Its a story of a phone call from her teen daughter’s school and all that it brings up for her. I actually got emotional towards the end of reading this story. May we all be more than the dress and much more than just the iron. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carolina-reads/support

In this episode I read a well known short story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Garcia Marquez is known to mix realistic and fantasitical ideas in his fiction and in the screen adaptation of this story he begins with a quotation from Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.” --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carolina-reads/support

This is a reading of a short story by French writer Guy de Maupassant. Its well known for the surpirise ending and hopefully serves as a warning against ungratefulness…May we never fall to vanity. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carolina-reads/support
