I binged this all in one sitting - I was absolutely hooked! I need another like this or a continuation because the rapport between Sue & Kat, is awesome!! Please do more!!

Hmm
I think this is an interesting case and worth shedding light on. However, as it's become more current, I feel it's become more gossipy and drama-driven. The facts should be laid out, but now we need to let the case of this (clearly very vulnerable) woman play out.Read full review »

I love podcasts about scammers and this is a great one. Sue and Katherine balance each other really well as hosts and the story is riveting. Please continue to do updates as you find more information!

Nothing special. The storytelling isn’t really compelling.

Wow
This podcast is so intriguing and binge worthy and the way the hosts tell the story are totally what makes it great too.

It started off well with a well told story first episode but the banter and mock outrage between the two presenters in a conversational tone just ruined it for me.

Aside from the ethical issues surrounding the making of this the equally worse part is the useless droning on coming from Sue Perkins. Adds nothing but won’t stop flapping her gums with nothing to add. Very cringe.

I have listened to two podcast about this girl and some of the information is slightly different . Like how her child died and the coroners final decision on the cause of death. I’d be interested in hearing which is true ? But what ever the outcome she’s a very sad and even dangerous woman.
Raji max via Apple Podcasts · Ireland · 06/30/24
The story was a little too speculative at the end for me though, where the hosts tried to guess at her motivations. I wanted this story to be a little more innovative than it was though. There are so many stories/podcasts about people catfishing others, or just generally faking who they are, and...Read full review »

Loved it, best podcast in ages

How does his have 4.5 stars? Thoroughly underwhelmed. Sue couldn’t be any more ‘shocked’ ‘stunned’ or ‘amazed’ if she tried. A mediocre delivery of what could have been an interesting yarn.

The original run of shows was interesting and well done. But the ‘follow up’ shows seem to add no new real information, or serious crimes, but just seem to be gratuitously going after a clearly mentally ill woman. I couldn’t care less if she went to an adult education class and lied a bit?...Read full review »

Sue Perkins is boring. Stop the entitled bores please

Started off strongly then got so tangled in their own self importance that it lost the plot.

Meh
Usually love sue perkins but this podcast feels like it revels in other peoples pain, the attempts to emphasize come across disingenuous and the politics are off. I don’t really see how wishing for someone to be arrested is helpful for either victim or perpetrator. Glorified daily mail article a...Read full review »

Just finished episode 1 and am all about this content, narration, and knack for telling a story just right. This is a binger!

Meh
I really cannot get along with the host who interjects way too much of her own opinion.

Better Help don’t do thorough checks on the therapists working. The therapists earn minimum wage per hour and do not have sufficient supervision. It is an unethical practice and can be a risk to those in acute mental distress.

Having only discovered this podcast in 2024, I am somewhat late to the party. I can only say, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed the story relayed here. Sue Perkins is an excellent host and incredibly funny — there were numerous occasions where I actually laughed out loud, thereby incurring some...Read full review »

I was looking for an Au Pair - and now I’m not. At the very least this woman doesn’t appear to have physically hurt any children but as the mother of a special needs child this story has made me even more distrustful of allowing other people to care for my son. Also, this podcast highlights the...Read full review »

I am a bit underwhelmed with the latest episode as their trying to empathise with the fraudster and try to be balanced. But it’s just really poorly done and I’m not sure why they bothered with this latest episode as it’s just telling us she’s has faked her identity again. But no real new news.

I normally love Sue Perkins but the delivery and convo between the two hosts feels forced and disingenuous. Also leans into the mumsnet tabloid outrage that better investigative podcasts tend to avoid. I’d guess Sue bought the rights to a Vice article and the journalist insisted on being a part...Read full review »

It seems like they did some investigation but it’s hard to see it, overall this just feels really thin and surface level. It could have been one long episode but for the narrator’s frequent interruptions to make sure she is Saying The Right Things. Which is fine, it just shouldn’t be the focus...Read full review »

Good researching but poor storytelling. Their conversations sound inauthentic and unbalanced. Their attempts to empathise and understand why this individual did what she did are painful to listen to. We should have the facts and any discussion about mental illness and trauma should be left to the...Read full review »

Intriguing story but poor storytelling. I worry, too, about the impact that sensationalism like this will have on people who are genuinely disabled, trying to be believed.

Terrific work ladies. I binged in one hit. I hope this poor woman gets help however she would have to be willing to help herself. Well told and well produced.

Well done ladies, enjoyed this intriguing and well produced story. I don’t doubt that there will be an update soon as I am sure that this tale has not yet ended.

Great topic. Interesting. Well presented but I have had to stop listening as the word ‘absolutely’ is being used in just about every section. It absolutely does, it absolutely is…. Ugh

Thoroughly enjoyed the podcast. Disagree with some of the other reviews. I like the fact that the hosts could empathise with the subject’s mental health issues, while simultaneously being horrified by the acts she committed. It was informative and well put together.

Brilliant journalism… so much stuff uncovered. I need another series. I had to listen to this in one go. I won’t spoil it for anyone… but her obsession with kids now makes sense … and should be a concern for the future.

I’m looking for a good true crime. After listening to In Your Own Backyard I’m completely spoiled. This one lost me after 2 episodes. I couldn’t get into this psychopath woman. Made me not care about anything that she did. Sorry

Others have been quite succinct and on point with their reviews. This is nothing more than tabloid garbage. Exploiting victims in the name of a trite podcast. If Sue Perkins wasn’t annoying enough, she really ups the ante here.

Just the investigative journalism will do, thank you. The constant musings of the obvious by the podcaster took away from the listening experience. Just get on with the story, which sounds like it’s a good one, but just can’t continue listening.
litawillis via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/23/23
I’d followed this story on Tik Tok as I’d seen Carrie’s post re air B&B. I’d noticed her chats had become more fantastical over time. I’m surprised the ladies who brought this to the fore weren’t given a little credit. Hence the 3 stars.

This is very poor storytelling. Takes ages to even work out what it’s about. It revels in it too which gives off air of exploitativeness making me feel really uncomfortable listening. Amazing story, well-edited with good music and thoughtful sound design. But Katherine Denkinson cannot help starting each sentence with “ABSOLUTELY” or “she/he ABSOLUTELY did”. Renders this potentially amazing podcast a tough one to endure.
