Listening to Catch Up
Hello Brenda and Cast On Listeners, I recently downloaded all the Cast On episodes from iTunes. I find this podcast very entertaining with a dash of education. I am listening to the episodes in order so it will take me a few more weeks to get to the current episode. Therefore the recommendation I am about to make may have already been sent. My recommendation stems from Brenda giving permission for folks to translate her pattern into other languages. I recommend Knitting Languages by Margaret Heatherman (ISBN 0-942018-11-7) The first printing was 1996 by Schoolhouse Press. This book translates knitting terms from English to Danish, French, German, British, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. I have found this book very useful when I buy a knitting book in a language I cannot read or speak. I bought my copy for about $8. I searched on Amazon this morning (May 20, 2007) to look for this book and found to my horror that this book is no longer in print and the paperback version is going for $72.80 or higher… So for folks pinching pennies, recommend they keep their eyes open at flea markets, yard sales or the such to catch a deal. I am looking forward to listening to Cast On’s 100 Episode and beyond. I am aware that the current Episode is 48. Brenda keep up the great work and remember 6:30am and earlier is the best part of the day!!!! Peaceful Journey Everyone, LM Virginia, USARead full review »

My favorite knitting podcast! Brenda's take no stuff style is refreshing and shows the modern side of knitting and knitters! Today's sweater is fascinating and makes me constantly wonder how many sweaters has this woman knit? :-)Read full review »

This podcast has the distinction of being the first that I could a) listen to all the way through without wanting to shut it off, and b) seek out previous episodes. While there are a lot of stale, stiff, uninspiring casts out there, this one isn't one of them. Brenda has a professional,...Read full review »
