Very inappropriate that Julie M sounds so happy while talking about such serious matters..

Loved this podcast series, I was totally hooked. I have listened to similar series, but nothing comes close to this one.

Thank you for covering this story in such a captivating, empathetic manner. I thank Melanie’s family for letting her story be told. Justice explained, even after many years is important.

The story is interesting but the narrator is terrible.pauses in all the wrong places, epmhasises the wrong words, constant lip smacking sounds.really battled to get through it

A brilliant analysis of a heinous crime & the painstaking detective work over 31 years. Amazing insight into the fortitude of the police & the inner strength of the family members. So many questions & such sadness, but so much admiration also. Congratulations on a creative masterpiece🙏

I couldn’t get past ep 1 so many mouth smacking sounds 🤮

What an incredibly moving, tense podcast. The amazing Julie (McKay/Mackay) needs a special mention. Her tenacity and determination to keep going with this investigation over all those years, at the same time as dealing with her own family situations. I am so in awe of her. Someone write her story!

The story here is interesting but it could have been confined to a couple of episodes. There is a lot of padding and huge amounts of repetition. Also the central character, a female detective whose voice features a lot, is a tough listen after a while.

A very sad case, beautifully narrated. This tells of the refusal of one small police force’s refusal to give up on the 30 year-old brutal murder of a young, innocent girl. A fascinating insight into the insane amount of work and dedication involved. And no adverts!

I was really invested in this podcast at first but detective Julie was giving me bad vibes. Telling personal stories about her sons bad behaviour (I’d be mortified with my mum if she is this), her horse dying, laughing and in general just a weird manner to discuss a murder. Felt as though she was...Read full review »

A recent listener to podcasts, this has set the bar very high.

Somehow managed to make a very interesting story incredibly boring and arduous to get through. 6 episodes in and we have spent time hearing about applications and forms rather than anything substantial. I fell asleep half way through and woke up to find I had missed absolutely no amount of...Read full review »

Very good and compelling telling of this true story. The presenter has a rather unusual speaking style which at times was.quite.stilted.and.annoying. and he could not pronounce the letter “L” but pronounced it “W”. Also seemed to emphasise the letter “T” at the end of every word which was...Read full review »

Historical overview that covers over 30 years to catch a killer. Very well done.

Love the way the story is told. The hard work of the police nobody knows about, the grief of the family. Great work.

This is the second series I’ve listens to by this presenter. He really tells a good story and very well. Please make more!

I listened to all episodes of this podcast pretty much back to back over just two days. A complex story, sensitively told in a way that conveyed the devastation of the family, the determination and frustration of the police searching for the killer and the long road to solving this hideous crime....Read full review »

So well put together. Feel for the family. Very devastating for them. Love hearing about the tenacious police behind the culprits capture 💖

It’s basically a podcast celebrating the investigator not much attention to case / motives / etc more just steps of investigation

Very well done. This focused on Melanie, her family & the detectives hard work. The perpetrator was like a blip in the last episodes, as it should be.

Incredibly well made and produced series following the over 30 year search for the killer of Melanie Road- respectful of the family and Melanie, allows you to see her and her family as real people who suffered and lost so much, with the Road family presenting as dignified and strong throughout....Read full review »

This story was so great in honoring Melanie. She went far to long without justice.

Probably the most excellent true crime podcast I’ve ever heard.

This is by far the best pod cast I have ever listened to. So much detailed information that you felt as though you were part of the investigation and were looking through a tiny window at the poor Road family. Thank goodness most of us will never feel what they did, but god bless them, their...Read full review »

One of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. Detailed, thought provoking and overwhelmingly satisfying to hear the judicial outcome.

Trying my best to get past the hosts oddly stilted style of speaking, it’s like he’s putting punctuation and emphasis in all the wrong places. Speaking. Like. This is very. Distracting. To me. Personally.

Excellence all round here. Professional in every way. Well written & produced, clear and concise presentation. I was addicted early on. Well done to the whole team involved, and to the Road family for their participation in letting their sad story be told in the most compassionate way. A+

Have listened to probably forty crime podcasts and this is right up there. Doesn’t sensationalise - really can’t fault it. Thank you for this beautifully put together podcast.

My heart goes out to Melanies poor family. The story of her killing and the subsequent hard work of the police to find her killer is told so well in this podcast.

Very good following along with these detectives and what they went through for this family. I don’t want to comment about the outcome. You’ll have to listen for yourself!! Worth the listen!!

It’s an interesting story, and very sad, presented in an ‘and finally’ news item. Seems so insensitive to the family. And why the narrator feels the need to say ‘yes’ after almost every bit of interview I have no idea. The story of police work is worth telling, but the style lacked sensitivity...Read full review »

An excellent podcast and credit to the hard work, over many years, of professionals who wouldn’t allow the murder of a wonderful, cherished young woman with a life full of potential remain unsolved.
carebi via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 05/08/21
A good podcast but the narrator uses a TV style which doesn’t really suit podcasts. There is a huge amount of unnecessary (and therefore dull) recapping where we’ve got to, and some really terrible previews of what’s coming next that take away the element of surprise that is so important to a...Read full review »

This series is a must for true crime followers. The research, host, continuity is great. Every episode holds you and keeps your interest. Sadly considering it’s about the death of such a young woman. Regardless, it’s an excellently produced podcast series and hope for more!
