I have no issue with the CBC costing $34 per year, per Canadian taxpayer — especially since it’s 16th out of 18 Western nations in terms of per capita funding for public service broadcasting. I also don’t take issue with the occasional ad, which helps to drive Canadian businesses.
So, setting aside political strife and controversy, (to which *no* broadcaster is immune) I’m relatively satisfied with the value for my money. I’m even okay with the CBC’s prominently liberal lens (which I’m free to challenge), much like I challenge the manufactured outrage at the pittance we pay for what we get.”
