Fun for gearheads and pedal lovers
I've listened from day one, and had some good correspondance with Travis, who is very friendly through e-mail. I really enjoy it. I spend hours online enjoying pedal demos and reading about guitar gear (Tone Report, for example), so this podcast is perfect for me. It really taps into the Pro-Guitar Shop/Andy Martin/Prymaxe/Mike Hermans/Gearmanndude/Pete Thorn online culture that is really exploding these days. The guys are absolutely themselves, so you get to know them really quick, and it feels like listening to your buddies. Plus Wampler pedals are absolutely killer, so they (Brian in particular) can speak with real authority about their industry. They aren't shills, they aren't trying to sell you on their pedals, and they give respect to their competitors while acknowledging all the good work that other "boutique" pedal builders do. My ONLY criticism is that they don't talk enough about the gear. For some reason, they seem to think the audience will be bored by what they call "technical talk," and sort of always gloss over the technical details, but the opposite is true. The technical talk is the best part! I have ZERO electronic knowledge and I've never tried to build a pedal, but I WANT to hear all the tech talk. I want to learn about circuits and resistors and the difference between a TS circuit and a Klon, or a Tonebender vs. a Fuzz Face, or a Plexi vs. a Vox AC30. So that's my only complaint - not enough nitty-gritty. Other than that, it's really great. Don't be afriad to get nerdy, guys! You're wasting a platform for us all to learn from Brian Wampler!Read full review »

More reviews of Chasing Tone
About 5 minutes of actual content about gear or music. Most of it is really unfunny rambling and personal stories. They make fun of talking about anything remotely technical as if no one wants to hear about it, but it would be better than hearing them cackle about stupid inside jokes.

Always great to hear 3 guitar players and friends, talking about music and guitars! It’s always a thing to do, every monday. Thanks.
