Thirty-five of our lucky JOY community caught the Kinetic Pride bus to the Pride Game at Victoria Park! We crossed to roaming Tri who gave us the latest gossip on the bus and just like roaming Brian she loved to get people to chat on the mic. One person came to their first ever AFLW game.

The Chicks chatted to one of favourite police officers Dylan Miles LLO (LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officer). Dylan chatted about the role LLO’s play at events like Pride Game, how the LLO’s want to build a bridge with our community and they even caught the Kinetic Pride Bus to the game.

Bec and Fi chatted to the Mayor of Yarra – Claudia Nguyen during the Pride Game at Victoria Park. We talked about the significance of the game being played in Yarra which has the highest population of LGBTIQA+ people in Victoria, their strategy with Rainbow Yarra for the area and what the game meant to her personally as a member of our community. Claudia tipped a draw to be diplomatic.

Bec Miller did not miss a game for Richmond across the first three AFLW seasons, racing to 25 games. Bec is a key defender who was selected in the All-Australian squad of 40 and finished runner-up in the Tiger’ 2022 best and fairest had an injury interrupted Season 7. At 27, she still has a long future ahead of her in the competition. The Chicks are ramping up for the AFLW Pride Round by chatting to Sarah Rowe from Collingwood about the work the Pies are doing to celebrate Pride at Vic Park. We also chatted to Dee Berry from the Bulldogs about what is happening across the highway at Whitten Oval for Pride. There’s lots of fan activation at both grounds! They worked out how they would run the AFL if they were put in charge – anyone for a supporter getting a lucky ticket to swap places with a player for 5 minutes or maybe even a double denim round?

Fi and Motty celebrated footy Christmas – the AFL Grand Final week! We caught up with Chloe McMillan VFLW coach and Player Development coach from the Collingwood Football Club. We got some goss from the inside walls of Collingwood FC from her and talked about her journey in to leadership at the Club via her role at Champion data. We caught up with the fans from Brisbane Lions and the Pies and dissected the Brownlow – should umpires decide on points?

It was a jam packed show with snakes on the footy oval, the chicks making it on to some billboards, the heat of the AFL Finals, AFLW high scoring and we chatted to Cartlon co-vice captain Jess Del Pos about the Carlton Respects game coming up in round 4 of the AFLW season. We also did a fitting tribute to Ron Barassi and played a clip from the ABC.

We chatted about the new higher scoring strategies, rule changes, the growth of the league, the investment in women’s footy, prize money announcements, the Friday 5 pm timeslot and most importantly whether she’s a pie, chip or hot dog person. The Chicks welcomed Danielle Croci to join us on the crazy CTF panel. We have a few fabulous guest co-hosts over the season which is a bit of fun. Danielle chatted to Georgia Nanscawen ex Hockyroo and now Bomber AFLW player.
