“I wasn’t sure whether or not to leave a review, but I have some feedback that I hope will be helpful. I really appreciate that this podcast is speaking out about spiritual abuse in the church. As someone who recently went through abuse at a church, I find it helpful to have resources. I have even started to share on my podcast and writing on my website about spiritual abuse in church. My focus tends to be more geared towards helping the victims, whereas the Church Disrupted podcast seems geared more towards helping people identify abuse and focusing on exposing abuse and exposing the ones perpetuating the abuse, and both are needed. My main critique though is that if you are going to do a podcast about spiritual abuse in the church then you should interact with people and their stories when they reach out to share them with you. You said once that that was important to you and that you reach out to everyone personally, but I’ve shared some of my own story a few times and never heard back from anyone at Church Disrupted. Not that I expect to be best friends, but your audience and their experience should be important to you. Maybe you reach back out to some people? I don’t know, but I know as someone who had been listening, it sent up a few concerning red flags for me bc I recently left a church and one of the things I noticed is that people’s stories and feedback were not important to them. So as a listener it made me feel like my feedback/story was not important to you. Hopefully you will consider this and interact more with your listener base if you are trying to create a community.”
