Truth!
I just listened to the most recent podcast and this guy is spot on! I’m a shop steward and VP of our branch and the simple things suggested could change all our experiences. My office in particular is probably the nicest management. Our district manager wants our carriers to be successful also and it has implemented/suggested a carrier mentorship program. Where a senior carrier is a mentor of a younger Cca. But it really takes time. And time is some thing The senior carrier does not have nor the younger. On the surface it looks like it could work by a cCA’s coming off the street at least for the first few weeks bringing their bring back to the senior carrier to look through their waste to talk about where the forwards go , the mark ups etc Days off, are important. Last peak season. We had Cca‘s work three months with no day off. Needless to say they no longer work for the Postal Service. But I’ve noticed as an older carrier is the young people that we are hiring without a physical fitness without Any of the things we received back in the 80s and 90s as a prerequisite. Being able to lift 70 pounds and carry 40. When I got hired nobody had kids. Now everybody’s newly married young families and they want a life and now there’s competition. Back in the 90s you were lucky to have a job. Now you can go make $21 an hour at our competitors. I have suggested that, while the federal government hires the new seasonal health at a lower wage, what if the district manager had the authority to pay more to the senior carrier that just retired who has full knowledge of an office. Wouldn’t it make sense to pay them more money so they can get the job done correctly and move efficient? Especially at Christmas time . I want to thank this guy for putting on this podcast. I will be listening to all the prior ones. Keep up the good job. I’m gonna forward this podcast to our district manager in San Diego and anyone else I feel can make a difference. Thank you so much.!

I am an instructor and I learned from these podcasts. Some of the information was from the older way of carrying mail but still informational and nice to know what all those forms or boxes are for on the forms. Great podcast!
