After a stressful day, I love sitting down to listen to Les Blatt's thoughtful reviews. They offer some history and insight all by themselves, even if I wasn't constantly on the hunt for new mystery novels. This podcast somehow captures the coziness of reading a classic mystery too. I really...Read full review »

Les Blatt really did a great job as a host, summing up great classic mysteries, American or British, in less than 5 minutes. A treat  to all golden age mystery fans!

I listen religiously each week to this wonderful podcast, and have found some vintage mystery gems among the books discussed. You really get a taste of the book, which helps you decide whether to track it down, since many are out of print. Thanks so much!

This is a brilliant podcast and supporting website. Just enough information about each classic mystery to make you want to go out and get a copy. Familiar Christie and co but also less familiar stories. Have tried many and all live up to Les Blatt's enthusiastic and balanced reviews. If Les says...Read full review »

I am really enjoying this podcast. I love that I am discovering authors that I have known little about. Very entertaining and informative.

Les Blatt deserves our thanks and praise for devoting himself to spreading the word about many out of print literary mysteries. He is clearly a discerning reader, a true lover of the mystery genre, and a generous, enthusiastic fan of a wide variety of writers. You will be impressed by the amount...Read full review »

An urbane guide to vintage mystery fiction. Les Blatt speaks with genial authority on the novels, and occasionally short stories, of the past. His field is largely restricted to the puzzle-based or cosy "Golden Age" mysteries. We hear more of bodies in libraries and delinquent baronets than we...Read full review »

This is a really cool podcast that practically MAKES you go and get the book to read. There is JUST enough information about the book's plot and author to tease you into reading it. Thankfully, the books are still in print and available from the library or amazon (used) for a small sum. A cool...Read full review »
