“As a Utahn, and a non-LDS, Utahn...I had no problems or issues with the constant Mormon references. I found it very relevant to the lives of the individuals whom this story is about and in no way did I find it a plug for the LDS church, as other reviewers did. I thought the way the religion was presented gave listeners a good picture of the Mormon culture and I believe the references and religious jargon helped explain the decisions and frame of mind of those involved. I believe Susan’s religion was a foundational pillar in her life and also led to her demise at the hands of her deranged husband who was anti-Mormon and had other outside anti influences provoking his frustrations (Steve & siblings). I found the religious thought process to be intriguing and also believe it played a major antagonist theme throughout.
This is a sad, sadistic, and absurdly twisted story that is told so well through this podcast. The investigative journalism the KSL team did to present the information is truly phenomenal. It is very intriguing, engaging, and thought provoking. As a Utah, I was annoyed with the Susan Powell story that went on and on for years with no resolve and the obviousness of Josh’s guilt was infuriating. This podcast dissected the case and made much more sense of the criminal and investigation process- although still infuriating.”
