Always worth a listen
Been a long time listener of the podcast and I'm a big fan. I appreciate the thoughtful discussion and insights from both Matt and Adam. While I don't always agree with you, I enjoy the manner in which you both defend your positions on a given film. Anyway, it's always an enjoyable listen for me and I always get something out of it….I very much appreciate the content, keep em coming fellas (and sometimes ladies)! ***Hot Take***Moana is a far superior animated film than Frozen. I think that the Frozen Fever that swept the nation (and is still present...Frozen on Broadway, Frozen on Ice, a shocking amount of still present Elsa Halloween costumes, etc) is more the result of the collective excitement behind Disney Animation's reinvention than it was about the actual quality of the story and the film itself. There is certainly a lot to like about Frozen, from the central love story to the admittedly show stopping musical number, but I find that Moana is infinitely more rewatchable and plays at a higher level than Frozen in almost every aspect. The songs, while without a radio-playable standout like Let it Go, are so much more impactful within the context of the film and for that reason are far more memorable (and I'm no Rock fanboy, but he really nailed his solo). And even though it's a familiar story for Disney, the emotional payoffs and arcs for both central characters are far more satisfying than anything in Frozen - the setting and animation are breathtaking and the film only gets better with repeat viewings, which I find is very much not the case with Frozen. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bummed that Frozen caught on in the zeitgeist, I'm glad people like it – but I don't understand how the critically praised, financially successful, and deeply satisfying Moana doesn't have the same staying power in pop culture. I feel like it was sort of overlooked, and that makes my wife and I a pair of sad pandas. I realize that I'm in the minority but I'm anxious for your thoughts.Read full review »

More reviews of Collider Witching Hour
I really like The Collider Podcast. While it's true that Adam and (especially) Matt can be negative, they also have their fair share of positive things to say about the movies they discuss. On occasion they even outright rave about a movie they particularly like (Mad Max: Fury Road, Ex...Read full review »
