A truly awesome podcast especially for later generations
I am so glad that somebody decided to do this. As a millennial and wanting to truly know and understand a band that has been deemed the "best" by many, this podcast provides the context that has given me a deeper appreciation for their work. The recording innovation of their time is just something you cannot know unless somebody tells you. I do have a few critiques: first off, Dave, you are wrong about Run for your Life - I definitely agree with Ian on this one! Context, postfeminist, blah blah aside. John apologized for it, and not just for the bad music. Second, I wish there would be more of a focus on lyrics with certain songs; sometimes Dave focuses a little too much on how they were made and the lyrics are touched upon but sometimes brushed aside. Rocky Racoon and Come Together are examples. Finally, there were instances in which I didn't know what song they were taking about until midway through but I believe Ian mentioned this issue. Overall, amazing work! I have listened to some of them more than once just to give me perspective.Read full review »

If this were just Dave, a mostly well-informed Beatles historian, it would be a solid five stars, but good God, someone put a muzzle on this Ian guy. He's constantly interrupting, trying way too hard to be funny, and attempting to make connections that just aren't there. While listening...Read full review »
