Problematic and potentially harmful content
I found the most recent episode to be problematic in the use of specifics regarding disordered eating and the mental health components of this multifaceted issue. The dialogue and the language used glorified the habits and attitudes around disordered eating. You could have had a multi-layered discussion around both of your experiences with these issues without inserting specific caloric, weight and size information. It is completely unnecessary and potentially dangerous to those unknowingly in the throes of the disease. I appreciate that there was a trigger warning, however, the conversation would have been rich and powerful and more beneficial to listeners had it not contained those specifics. It was also patriarchally problematic to try and use the argument of “men like something to grab onto on their women” as a means of encouragement for women to eat and gain body fat. This is also unhelpful to use someone else’s or an exterior motive to achieve an aesthetic for. The problems, the destructions, the way eating stuff can sneak up on you, the steps you take to get help and the daily choices one makes are all important factors to discuss and are a fascinating component of any sufferers journey to mindfulness and health and can be so useful to others also beginning their journey and are wholly more important without glorifying specific kg and calories.
