Giles Fraser’s style is sympathetic, considered and measured. It therefore becomes easy to listen to Fraser, even if you disagree with him (and on many things, I do). There is none of the now familiar shrill moral outrage of the left. Great guests, good interviews and thoughtful tolerance makes...Read full review »

Giles’ warm and open approach to interviewing makes this a very revealing podcast . The most interesting episodes are with the guests I have never heard of . If you want a constructive dialogue on a wide range of issues , this is the one for you

Really enjoying this. Worked my way through a few selections and now listening to the whole back catalogue. Giles is open and warm, he listens yet he is not afraid to push for answers and question inconsistencies. I’ve learnt a lot. A very good model for our political discourse.

Thanks for the excellent podcast and I would have awarded 5 stars if it wasn’t for the poor sound balance - the host is extremely loud compared to the guest.

In my top five favourites this podcast is my best friend - save listening to it as a motivator to get on with my least favourite chores! Never fails to totally engross me, I love Giles Fraser's interview technique, his preparedness to listen and let the idea and conversation develop, his...Read full review »

This is a fascinating podcast. It is so interesting to discover what drives all these different people who have made their mark in one way or another. Giles Fraser is a delightful interviewer. And I thoroughly enjoy his articles published on UnHerd. I have witnessed Giles’ journey across the...Read full review »

This podcast has intellectual and ethical depth. It intertwines themes of personal development, public life and religious meaning in a conversational, very listenable format. Giles has good instincts as an interviewer yet lets his guests shine. Guests have been first rate, for example Jonathan...Read full review »

Would give 5 stars for the wonderful content but I struggle to hear the guests answers only to blown away moments later by Giles whose microphone is much louder. Please rectify this as the discrepancy makes it unbearable to listen to at bedtime.

Although I don’t usually agree with Giles Fraser I am a huge fan. Confessions brings very interesting people and Giles deconstructs their lives concentrating on two or three events/issues. Excellent guests with thought provoking ideas. The only minor criticism is that I miss a bit the...Read full review »

Constantly interesting guests and Giles approach unlocks the conversation by reaching back to his guest’s upbringing and asking about their deepest held beliefs in politics and religion. Great format.

In these winter months the podcast has hit a purple patch with fascinating interviewees to listen to and above all to learn from while challenging ones own thinking. The wide range of guests and the quality of the questions puts Desert Island Discs to shame. Two criticisms though. The first is...Read full review »

Good stuff Giles. This is the start of something really profound and important for the UK. 20 years ago Radio 4 might have been capable of it but now culturally so much has been trampled and broken. “And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as...Read full review »

I have given up on the BBC (TV/radio) because of their anti-Brexit stance and have enjoyed very much, these ‘Confessions’ because the interviewees have been very interesting, articulate people. I recommend this series wholeheartedly

I was recommended to listen to Confessions and was profoundly disappointed. Maybe it was the subject of the first episode I listened to, Simon Heffer, which did it. Maybe not. He interrupted Professor Mary Beard so many times, she had to fight to get a word in. I’m still making up my mind what the aim of this series is but, so far, it’s introduced me to people I wouldn’t normally engage with and shown them to be much more complex and nuanced than we’re led to believe (the Iain Dale episode in particular).
