They're too slack to get their facts right - not good.

“Listen to almost any show and you'll hear these fellows - smart, funny - slip up with incorrect information as they pretend to have "researched" various conspiracy theories. Then, instead of clever generalists trying to entertain, they come across as ignorant, pompous know-nothings who just want to prattle for their own egos' sake. That's neither entertainment nor reportage. It's irritating posing.
If you don't know something, say so - don't make up false statements to cover yourselves. If you don't know that Buchanan was an unmarried man or what the rules for British monarchical succession are, that's okay. But don't snark and high-horse your way into replacing one set of absurdity with another. Little details pile up, and the basis for the biases these boys share is not especially informed or intelligent.
Other such shows are better because they separate the attitude from the information, and they apply proper due diligence so they don't come off like people on a bar stool pontificating. I go to these lengths because the presenters are potentially good. Obviously they've been at it a while. But just because your listeners are as ignorant as you are doesn't mean you shouldn't get your facts straight. Humility, please, and less laziness.”Read full review »
