This series is one of my all-time faves, and I hope they’re working on a follow up or sequel examining peri- and post-Covid supply chains, or how drones, autonomous vehicles, and other technologies might (or might not) change shipping.

Really enjoyed this. Chock grill of great insights.

I discovered this podcast while listening to old episodes of 99% Invisible. Given the recent supply chain issues, this subject is especially interesting now in 2021.

This podcast was an interesting and still relevant look at the nuts and bolts of the shipping industry everybody depends on for nearly every item they handle on a daily basis. Given the current post-covid shipping craziness, it’s a nice reminder of how complex the shipping system is and humanizes...Read full review »

I first listened to this podcast when it came out a few years ago and I am currently re-listening to it because I love it so much. I am currently getting my degree in business operations and supply chain management, and love the sea, this podcast could not be better!

Niche listening that is rich, charming and fascinating. Suitable for anyone interested in life and the sea.

As a person who works in the shipping industry this podcast was well researched. It has a good balance of waterfront history and how containerization has changed the waterfront and a look into the future. Nicely done.

Wow
Always wanted to know what, when, and how the network of function. Didn’t except the wonderful story telling to make a dry subject even better... Rhett

Maybe I am misguided but I thought this would be about containers not poet longshoremen. Great topic. Fuzzy execution

One of the absolutely best documentaries with deep insights in humans, economy, and design. Heartbroken to see a low rating here.

There are so many more players involved in the industry: Surveyors, charterers, ship owners..why weren’t they interviewed?
Lech1910 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/25/19
This isn’t about containers. It’s about Oakland, and people who have had their jobs displaced. And some political jabs. Makes me wonder for those who loved this podcast what their daily life is like.

Great exploration of a surprisingly interesting topic. Shipping containers are ubiquitous and have shaped our world in a significant way, yet I knew little about their role in changing the global economy and their impact on every aspect of our lives. This series educated me but did so ina really...Read full review »

I found this via another podcast - 99% Invisible - and was hooked right away. A great real-world view into industry and society and the impacts of globalisation, positive and not so. I listened to the first 6 episodes today, will finish when I wake up!

Very interesting, however the leveling is really poor. I have to keep turning the volume up and down to listen to it.

If there were only more. Fascinating series about the history of shipping containers, how they came to be, and how they reshaped our world.
SmoothHughes via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/14/18
It is sheer delight to stumbling upon a podcast which you wouldn’t have thought of as interesting. Shipping containers huh, wow, hooked. I like calm hosts who tell a good story. Intelligently presented history of longshoreman and the world of containment shipping.

Smart, in-depth reporting. The world is a nuanced place - this is a good way to tell that story.

The show isn't really about containers. It's more about Oakland than anything. The show draws some connections between events that coincide rather than correlate. I was expecting a blend of How Stuff Works blended with Modern Marvels mixed with Serial. Instead this series left me a...Read full review »

Just perfect. I’ve been waiting to hear more about this since flexport came about. Such a big fan of the podcaster and his articles

This podcast starts off great in the first episode and seems well researched, informative, and accurate. Later episodes seem to be more liberal, politically slanted opinion pieces, with a few interesting human stories thrown in for effect. I even agree with some of the politcal opinions, but...Read full review »

I am overjoyed that there are fellow nerds who would listen to a container shipping podcast. Loved the book The Box, and love the take this podcast takes on the subject. I hope the staff would consider doing podcasts about other economic concepts.

A hyper-specific look at one facet of our world that in fact looks at our whole world and the way it is changing.

Left me wanting more since I was able to glimpse the world as it was and what it is now. Lordy, lordy, what will it become and how can we do it with decency and respect for all humans, animals and the planet?

I've completely changed how I look at the docks where I grew up. And the creators do such a good job of slowly revealing how things that you've been around for years have had all kinds of effects you wouldn't know about. Definitely worth a listen and a reflection!Read full review »

This podcast is the best thing ever! I'm only giving it one star for one reason - so someone notices it and fixes the crazy low volume and gives it the mix it deserves!
