The Cost of Living offers financial perspectives on all aspects of life. The show is super relevant, relatable, and well researched. Paul is an excellent host and brings together ideas and guests in the most enjoyable and down to earth way. I come away from each episode feeling like an aspect of...Read full review »

Great informative podcast that puts the fun in economics! Not only will you learn a lot and have fun while you’re at it, but also you’ll get the rare financial focus on Canada. Only thing that would make it better is more and more episodes!

The irony of including corporate jargon in your “best of” show is hilarious. It’s not “best of” it’s a re-run :)

Stumbled across your podcast recently and I’m binge listening to all of them! Interesting, insightful and humorous. I learn something new with each one. Keep ‘em coming!

For anyone who likes understanding economics and why things work they way they do in Canada. They cover everything from housing shortages to whether or not Zellers will make a comeback. The host and producer are funny and engaging.

Great show but researchers didn’t do a thorough job. In Toronto MANY small businesses have been charging a surcharge of 25 - 50 cents on debit or credit card transactions for years. All illegal? Who knows - but this was a missing piece.

A bit hit-or-miss; because each short radio length episode covers several topics, it can either leave you wanting more information or make you glad they barely got started, depending on the topic (it casts a wide net). Suffers from the typical myopic middle class definition of personal finance,...Read full review »

I love this show. It really connects to the lives of everyday Canadians. Wish the summer content was more original and not just repeating parts of other episodes.

The government caps CPP, OAS and its pensions at cost of living, or 2.1%, so even if adjusted quarterly it will be at least 4% behind annually! Seniors have mortgages, car payments, hydro and heating bills too. 🙋🏾‍♂️💁🏻🙇🏽

But change the opening “music “- irritating and not helpful to the content

Relevant and accessible discussion of money and economic systems, particularly our own here in Canada. The host, Paul H, keeps the convo flowing and fun to listen to. Economics is a blast. Who knew?

I enjoy the show. I find it refreshing that they look at things from more than just the traditional “business” / “economist” perspective, examining how money matters affect people in many walks of life and communities. More about labour and labour politics would be welcome.

I look forward to this listen each week. Great for snapshots of information, break it down to understandable lingo for the average listener and relevant and engaging topics. Keep it up!!

This podcast is a ham-fisted justification of unregulated capitalism which seeks to fool listeners into believing that rather than being taken advantage of, they being helped. Case in point: “self-checkouts are there for our convenience”...how is doing additional labour when I shop given that...Read full review »

I am a regular listener of the CBC Calgary’s Drive Home show, and would always enjoy hearing Paul’s numbers download on that program. I was happy to find that he’s still doing his thing, but now in an longer, and more interesting format. I’m finding it great to hear the numbers breakdown of...Read full review »

I really enjoy the timeliness of the topics as well as the pace of the podcast. Paul has a sly sense of humour that makes every topic just a bit more funny than it should be. The best 30 minutes or so of my week.

Paul looks past the Headlines and makes every topic interesting and meaningful.

Paul is like a Canadian Guy Raz; easy to listen to, interesting and just plain fun. The content is great too, a roundabout type of way of getting to the point that keeps it entertaining. Pumped for more content!

Really love the jovial nature of this show. It tells interesting business stories in a way that keeps my attention and doesn’t require an ECON degree. I also appreciate the Canadian perspective and the use of spectacular movie clips. Looking forward to hearing a lot more from this new CBC team....Read full review »

For me, it was easy to understand and to follow the logic. I enjoyed the bits of humour and relaxed chat. Not your typical business show!
