Description
Our Side A features a song that is a no brainer to a podcast about cover songs. Why did it take us this long to talk about the most covered song of all time? I have no idea. What I can tell you is that Yesterday by The Beatles is one of my top ten favorite sad songs of all time. Purportedly conceived in a dream by Paul McCartney, the song “Yesterday” was originally recorded by The Beatles in 1965 for their album Help! and — according to The Guinness Book of World Records — has now been recorded by more than 3,000 artists. That makes it the most covered song of all time. Our favorite guest, Cousin Pete, gets involved in our banter as we discuss some of the better covers of Yesterday by Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and of course - Bob Dylan. Our Side B features a band whose songs began to permeate my playlists as a direct result of spending too much time with Filler and Pete on my porch late night last summer. I don’t know much about this band but that doesn’t matter one bit because I am pretty sure Filler and Pete know everything there is to know about Steely Dan.
