Dylan, The Proclaimers, and UB40 are just a few artists whose rank high on our list. Our Side B features a Serge Gainsbourg song covered brilliantly by Stereolab! We hope you enjoy.

Our Side A features a song that is a no brainer to a podcast about cover songs. Why did it take us this long to talk about the most covered song of all time? I have no idea. What I can tell you is that Yesterday by The Beatles is one of my top ten favorite sad songs of all time. Purportedly conceived in a dream by Paul McCartney, the song “Yesterday” was originally recorded by The Beatles in 1965 for their album Help! and — according to The Guinness Book of World Records — has now been...

Our 25th Episode!! Filler does the Talk Talk as he talks about the English Rock band from the early eighties, Talk Talk and their song “It’s my life.” You probably know the cover version better than the original but I have a feeling by the time Side A is over, you’ll be more inclined to listen to the original…. And our Side B is one that is near and dear to my Francophile heart. I felt very inspired to research two of my favorite artists of all time – Edith Piaf and Louis Armstrong who happen...

According to the National Museum of Women in the Arts: “Women played a central role in the development of the rock-and-roll genre, beginning with early blues artists, like Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith. Spirited rhythm-and-blues singers—such as Ruth Brown, LaVern Baker, and rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson—added their creative talents to popular music through its explosive growth in the ’50s. Girl groups, like the Shirelles and Supremes, dominated the charts in the early ’60s while Janis Joplin,...

On Side A, well - to be clear - we really just wanted to find an excuse to talk about The Talking Heads. And so we begin with 'This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody),' The song is a highlight of Talking Heads' terrific fifth album, is a love song -- a rarity for the band, which typically stayed away from such mundane subjects. Still, it's a love song with an arty twist. Byrne rattles off a series of trite phrases to form the randomly inserted lyrics. The lovely music, though, takes the song to...

Episode 21 weaves in some Blues & Classic Rock on Side A as we chat about the killer song, "I Can't Quit You Baby." The song is a blues standard written by Willie Dixon and first recorded by Chicago blues artist Otis Rush in 1956. It was Rush's first recording and became a record chart hit. The song, a slow twelve-bar blues, has been recorded by various artists, including Led Zeppelin, who included it on their debut album. And, to top it off, on Side B, we head to the 80s to chat about...

With his stunning lyrics and voice that sounds like "rude beauty" it's no wonder that Bob Dylan is the most covered artist of all time. Our Episode 20 highlights three incredible artists who have each tackled Dylan in their own way. First up is George Harrison's "If Not For You" from his first debut-post Beatles album, "All Things Must Pass." George Harrison is a tough act to follow but somehow Van Morrison gets the job done with the Them's cover of "It's All Over Now Baby Blue." And last but...

And, our Side B gets down to just how good and needed a cover song can be as we attempt to talk about Weezer's take on Toto's "Africa." This episode is brought to by our leisurely cocktail hour on the porch where we enjoyed Filler's delicious paccheri al pomodoro and our tantalizing Gin Daisy cocktails. Bone appetit!

Episode 17 begins with our Side A featuring the seminal Sinatra/Jobim albums of the late 1960s. There’s so much that can be said about Frank Sinatra. Luckily, Filler did a lot of the legwork as he takes us through his connection to Frank & why the music moves so many artists including the phenomenal Brazilian musician, Antonio Jobim. Their cover & duet "Bonita" gets us all in that summer vibe mood. Side B: From British blues to California rock, from smooth sunshine to the most...
