It’s OK…
Look. I love true crime and ren fairs, so this felt like a perfect listen. But it’s full of issues- I’ll keep listening and adjust at the end, but there’s a lot about how this is presented that I find frustrating. For a specific example- the team spends a couple days going around and interviewing people, as well as trying to locate the King and are generally a very obvious “journalist” presence. Yet when they show up at the owner’s private home and staff know who they are, including their names, they make a big show of leaving because they feel threatened and freaked out that someone researched THEM in the midst of this. It’s all a bit over dramatic and silly, and frankly paints faires in general in a negative light, should someone think they’re all like this. (But again, jury is out as the pod isn’t done. I’ll edit if I change my thoughts)

This podcast feels like a highschool newspaper making a true crime radio show. It's over sensationalized and they read bad omens into everything.Read full review »
