It’s a fun listen and there are great interesting stories to tell. Wish the host(s) would just let those stories shine on their own, without so much dramatic intonation to imply criminality. It harms the credibility of the pod, cause when you realize someone is embellishing like crazy, you start...Read full review »

Due lack of content this season about King George is extremely repetitive.

Far too scripted and fake-sounding. Overly dramatic. And then the last episode is locked and you have to subscribe. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

This is a great podcast. It’s a unique and relatively unexplored topic with a personable host. Lots of characters and some important, terrible stories. Is it “overly dramatic” — nah. A Renaissance festival is one of the most dramatic, bizarre things out there — surely it would yield some wild and...Read full review »

I feel for the couple who was drugged, but overall, the hosts are so dramatic in being “chased” and “watched.” They said themselves that you know what you’re getting in to when you leave the actual fairgrounds and go to the campgrounds. This podcast is reaching for drama that isn’t there, so...Read full review »

This podcast feels like a highschool newspaper making a true crime radio show. It's over sensationalized and they read bad omens into everything.Read full review »

I’m from SE Texas and grew up with Ren Fair tickets being sold in local grocery stores. Been a few times and even camped one year, was thinking of camping with some friends this year (2024). I didn’t realize how bad the drugging of people’s drinks were though. May just hold off for another...Read full review »

I’ve lived in the region that’s had the TRF for roughly 15 years and the podcast is presenting the whole atmosphere very credulously and dramatic. There’s nothing endemic to TRF that “encourages bad behavior” any more than the same behavior on a public beach during the summer, or any other large...Read full review »

I love a solid investigative podcast but this one is so weird in that it’s scripted. The premise is great but the awkward fake scenes and conversations are so bad. The actual investigation elements are also full of conjecture and nothing tangible is ever presented so it never feels like anything...Read full review »

As someone else mentioned, this is full of weirdly scripted interactions between hosts that pull me right out of it. It’s not too well written and the drama feels very fake. The episodes are ridiculously short for something you want me to subscribe to.

I’m a Tx ren fair enthusiast (maybe once a year). The locals already know about this. It’s really not so bad…during the day. Just like any other big event. I’ve had my own experience there being followed. Maybe for another season, I recommend researching the Go Topless Weekend (jeeps) in Texas....Read full review »

I played all 4 and got to #5 only to see it must be subscribed to. That’s really crappy. Definitely not purchasing.

This podcast is fascinating. It is well researched and written. The compelling manner, in which it is told will leave you wanting more. Listen to it before you go to your next Renaissance Festival.

Ren fares are really just a ridiculous Excuse to get together for debauchery. I don’t know why you wasted your time on covering this trash when there are millions of better things that you could’ve covered.

Eh
Super scripted and horribly cheesy. I live near the Texas Ren Fest and have gone there many times. It’s a rowdy festival and everyone around here knows that. This podcast tries to make it sound really nefarious, but it’s a bit excessive. Not a fan.

The story is interesting and the hosts are hilarious and captivating!

Absolutely ridiculous. Everyone knows that the TX Ren Fair was all about meth head losers looking for boobies. The real story was the inherent white racism, sexual and animal abuse, and how these people disintegrated into evil Trumpsters. ICP without the clown makeup. Shakespeare this is not

This is insane. I can’t put it down. Did anyone know about this?

I wanted to enjoy this, but trying to pass off obviously scripted conversations between the hosts as off the cuff just annoyed me and pulled me right out of the story. If you’re going to do that, get actors. Good actors. I couldn’t keep listening.

I live in Bow, NH and Dr. Mallove lived in my neighbor’s house. I had no idea about any of this when I started listening! Such a well done podcast and a fascinating story that is well worth telling.

Great show, excellent production! Need a subscription option to continue listening as I would pay to hear more now.

A really compelling and thoughtfully-investigated story that should appeal to history fans as much as true crime fans. Beautiful, polished presentation (especially the music and sound design) is a plus!

Kusher’s stretching, over-enunciating “podcast” narration is infantilizing.
