On December 5th, 2023, 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina of Edna, Texas didn't show up to a Christmas parade she was supposed to attend with her cheer squad. Her mother rushed home to find her daughter stabbed to death in their apartment, and police have arrested 23-year-old Rafael Govea Romero for her murder. While the investigation is still open, the family states they don't know Romero, and aren't yet sure of any connection to Lizbeth.
