Sometimes liberal and one sided.
I find the show deficient in moderate perspectives. When discussing social media censorship in one episode Walt suggests that what he sees as bigotry and fake news sites should be censored. What is lacking is a perspective where people are held responsible for their actions. At the edge of technology and culture it isn't useful to have a conversation that devalues the free speech that technology has permitted. When I was young, I had to learn about how to evaluate truth on the internet and how to ignore the the bigots. In this podcast the responsibility always seems to fall on the tech industry to moderate user content. Yet there is no mention of how it is possible for how algorithms can polarize opinions or don't have journalistic integrity.Read full review »
