“After listening to an earlier episode of this podcast and (correctly, I think the host would agree) deciding that I was not the target audience, I dropped by again to listen to an episode about a book that I am very interested in: Deep Nutrition by Cate Shanahan and I'm glad I did.
First, a little background: The main reason I haven’t tuned in to every episode between then and now is twofold. One, while I appreciate Mr. Caligiuri boiling a book down into its “Golden Nuggets”, if it’s content that I care about, I think there is a lot of value in the small details AND the “Golden Nuggets” are the host's selections, not necessarily what I or the author would have chose. So in most cases, I’d rather make the time to read the book myself. But the recent trend of having the author on to distill their own content down and ask them questions directly is brilliant! Not only does it give them a chance to inject their own opinions about what they think is important information to glean from their book, but Mr. Caligiuri has instantly nearly doubled his target audience and here's why: It appeals to people who have not read the books discussed, making it easy to digest some information we wouldn’t have otherwise received, or (more important to me) decide whether a book is worth reading. AND it appeals to people who have read the books because hearing a candid discussion with the author themselves gives the information in the book more context, and in some cases, provides a little bonus content that didn’t make it into the book at all.
All in all, highly recommended.”
