The Best Show With Which You'll Ever Become Obsessed!!
Let my Love Letter to Legends and Larks be Loud and Long! I've been listening to this show since I was a teenager, when it was like, a year old? So now that I've had to get an apple device, it's time to answer the call to review. Talk about neurodivergent task avoidance. This show feels like randomly being introduced to a bunch of people at a party who are all best friends but instead of awkwardly ignoring you they all welcome you warmly and make you feel at home. It's full to the brim with bits and outdated memes and silly voices and callbacks and occasionally, regular jokes. These I'm sure are helped in their comedic timing by just, such good editing & sound design (and thank you for it!). The music is incredible (just the first bar of Vioni's theme has my skin crawling, and the Survivor's Ballad is what we call an Ear Worm in german) As for the World, Avelis deserves to have a place in the general feelings of our world next to Middle Earth, Asgard, and a galaxy far, far away. Madrea, Ilfra, and Sparrow Island hold the same place in my heart as the Shire, Camp Half-Blood, and Narnia. Every corner of this world has exciting new things to do and explore. The lore and pantheon is so intuitive and natural that i often forget that something is not common knowledge, but a direct reference to this show. (That goes for the jokes too. Father Winter is real you cannot convince me otherwise) I could read a thousand books on this world and never grow tired. All the people feel like individuals, people who have a past and a future and don't know what to do with these four chaos gremlin protagonists who are the only teenagers in the world with magic - a lot of magic. Magic that is used in just the way I should like to use magic, if I had any. Which I suppose I do, since this show is embedded inseparably into my heart. Having 137 regular episodes now, whenever a character comes back for an encore it feels like seeing an old friend. Or whenever I listen again from the beginning, as I've done ... quite a lot. I invite everyone to listen to this delightful audible hug and let your heart grow three sizes to fit the entirety of this adventure and a half. And then please let me know you have, so I can talk someone else's ear off about everything I love about this show. The Codeword is "I otter know you". Best Wishes etc.Read full review »

I just discovered that there's a whole sea of D&D podcasts out there, and even in that vast crowd, this one stands out. Excellent audio quality, fun characters, and a very thoughtful DM. I've listened to Acquisitions Inc, The Adventure Zone, Friends at the Table, and so many of the...Read full review »

This show is amazing! I started listening when they were already on episode 20 so I binge-listened until I was caught up and now the time between episodes is agony - but well worth the wait! It is amazingly edited & DM'd and very well played. The story being told is a perfect mix of...Read full review »
