I am but a vessel for our Lord
I never really knew my father. He disappeared late one night when he told us he was "going out to get some milk, and then to live with my secret family forever." I waited up for him every night. Except on the nights when I went to sleep. Which was most nights. Then one morning, miraculously, he came back. He was hairier now and had four legs and was a dog, but I knew it was him. Dad and I got along great, and he did all the same things with me that he used to. Like kicking the footy. And helping me ride my bike. And humping my leg. Then one day, I was talking to Dad in the kitchen, when Mum walked in. She said "Who are you talking to?" and when I turned back to Dad he was gone. In fact, he had never been there. He had never come home. I had imagined it. All that came home that morning had been some lousy ghost dog. I cried for days. For weeks. For years. All is darkness. There is no meaning to life, other than to lose. And we lose until we have nothing left, and then we are removed from this world through the mercy of death. I cannot wait for that day. I enjoy this podcast.Read full review »
