So beautifuly told and deeply personal
Dear Franklin Jones is a little bit biased, but thats what makes it interesting. Who better to tell us the history and feeling of being in a following like this then someone who lived in it, and once loved it. Sometimes the podcast is a history of the group, or the strange past of Franklin Jones himself. This of course is fascinating but is not what makes this worth listening as there are hundreds of podcasts about "cults" out there. What sets this one apart is the times where this podcast feels like an open ended letter to the narrators past and connection with his family. It is just so beautifully done. You can tell that Franklin Jones and his teachings left an imprint on the narrators life that he is still trying to understand weather for good or for bad. At the end of every episode I can feel the moments of the narrators self realization and I think he is finding a lot of peace telling this story and analyzing the events that were around his childhood. But above all I think the narrator is trying to answer the question we all want to know the answer to when we think about this era of spiritualism and cult leaders. Why do people follow these teachings? What draws people to join these followings? And foremost what is the allure of Franklin Jones? Love this podcast and I can't wait to hear moreRead full review »

This narrator has the gall to lightly touch on issues of sexual abuse and then say that no one he spoke to regretted their time in the cult. It makes me tired when people present their own experience and justification of their own experience as the norm.
