But don’t spend enough time talking about. This podcast is in my top favourites for the out of the box subjects and intriguing stories that really get at the heart of human nature to spur thoughtful discussions and greater understanding. The host is empathetic and approachable. This has...Read full review »

I’ve found the “Financial Therapy” episodes with the other host (Amanda) really boring. Focusing on one person’s financial issues for 30 minutes is just dry. I’d rather they skip these altogether and bring us actual DSM episodes.

I used to love this podcast. Anna is such a tremendous interviewer, but in the past year, I’ve found the conversations a lot less compelling. I also enjoyed the complexity of stories brought forward and how the team kept the interpretation open to the listener. I am disappointed that in recent...Read full review »

Vocal dragging and using “like” every 6 words! I made it about a minute before deleting. Is it like-fill in the blank, or is it it? Is it like it or is it it? So like..redundant. Is it redundant or is it like redundant? Didn’t vocal dragging go out of vogue?

I just love this podcast, I’ve been listening for years and it never fails to make me feel more connected, inspired, uplifted, and generally more human. Anna is a master interviewer - thank you Anna you absolute legend!

As an interviewer, Anna Sale is one of the best I’ve ever heard. Obviously her subjects know they need to be vulnerable when going on the show, but the way she goes deeper with them is something special.

Is it me or is it them? I used to look forward to and really enjoy this podcast but I don’t listen anymore. When it was about real people and real life it was fascinating to me. But then it became about celebrity interviews and not all celebrities are interesting or have interesting stories just...Read full review »

Update- thanks for changing the show’s format! Much better now. I’ve changed my rating. :-) Here’s my old review: I used to love this show - for the first couple of years it had really fascinating interviews and I would always eagerly await its release. Lately it’s “meh”. The show has gone...Read full review »

Come on Team! Sugar baby episode was so weak I’m embarrassed to recommend for fear that people will chose that to be their first episode to listen to. AND, you dropped the ball with the last two on Alcoholism. In this critical time we need more than this for awareness/advocacy and support for a...Read full review »

I love Anna’s style and the guests she interviews. I noticed a lot of hate for the sugar babies episode...but I actually liked it. It was interesting to see how real life events combine to produce that kind of betrayal. And I don’t think Anna glorified the man either. And she did reach out to the...Read full review »

It was good to hear from people around the country to help everyone feel less alone in this, but the format was a little cringeworthy 😬 Listening to a live show where guests can call in is always cringe-y for me because of the awkwardness of people interrupting each other and then pausing at the...Read full review »

I’m through with this podcast. First off, I’m not a fan of the host. Secondly, they have way too many ads that break up the podcast in weird way. Finally, this one just put me over the edge. The guy in this episode is a psycho with little remorse for what he did. He only cares about himself. I...Read full review »

I, too, stopped listening to the interview part way through. I’ve never done that before with this podcast. What a boring interview subject.

After the constant push for donations, it’s a little funny that they constantly recycle old interviews.
emoore337 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/11/20
I completely echo the negative comments on the sugar baby episode. He has no remorse and clearly just wanted a platform to hear his own voice on a podcast. It’s a very surface level interview and he is saying what he thinks he is supposed to. I am a listener but plan to unsubscribe based on this...Read full review »

I’m compelled to add my disappointment of the Sugarbabies episode. Better to have been shelved. My Gaydar went off so loud in the first minute I was frankly astounded that the episode didn’t end with questions about his sexuality.

I was going to write a review of the “sugarbabies” episode, and then i read the one posted by Ahhchbee on Wednesday. I could just cut and paste that review because I had the exact same reaction. This was a terrible exploitation of the wife’s pain and humiliation, all to give this narcissistic...Read full review »

Seriously? Anna, you are such a skilled interviewer and journalist and I feel like it was wasted on giving this narcissist a platform. Long time listener, first time reviewer. Anna Sale has such a way of interviewing that is both insightful and empathetic to her guests; not to mention a beautiful voice and possibly the greatest laugh in the world.

I learn so much from the way Anna holds space with care while simultaneously going to deep, often uncomfortable spaces with guests. You will get sides of guests that may not come out elsewhere. Anna is clearly always engaging in reflexivity, learning alongside the guests and listeners about...Read full review »

I’ve listened to this show since the beginning (apologies that it took so long to write a review), and it’s honestly one of the best podcasts there is. Anna is so kind and compassionate, and the questioning seems so natural. It’s like hearing a conversation between friends.

I listen to a lot of podcasts on a range of topics and used to always look forward to DSM, but the recent episodes haven’t really resonated with me. I’ve found myself listening to about ten minutes then moving on. Hoping to see some more interesting topics coming up!
smac430 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/13/20
This is the only podcast that matters to me. ❤️Every episode is different and interesting. Although some topics can be “heavy” I never leave feeling down. It peaks my curiosity and interest and it makes me love humanity a little bit more. 🌎

I love these little slices of life. Thanks Anna you have such a lite touch and such a wonderful voice. So glad I stumbled on your podcast. A real jewel! It is rare to find someone who interviews without taking over the subject matter.

Thus was a great podcast that I used to look forward to each week. Unfortunately the last year has been hit or miss and mostly misses.

Thank you ... this has been my go to podcast for years now. I do miss the old show format from the first two years ... now the themes seem thin or spotty. My favorite part about this podcast is Anna’s interviewing skills. I love listening and she asks all the questions on my mind in a respectful and caring way. I also love the unique topics we usually don’t talk about.

This is the one podcast I have directly sent money to because I love it that much. The topics of discussion cover so many interesting things that I never would have considered before, or go in a direction I wouldn’t have expected. It’s a real pleasure to listen to DSM every time!

I have recently become somewhat of a podcast person. I find them through my local Public Radio station. But this one here- it feels so valuable. So helpful. I find myself sharing episodes all the time. Sale keeps it real, and stays out of the way of the subject matter. Grateful for it.

I started listening this year (2019) and became obsessed. Such a brilliant premise to cover varying stories. I never know exactly what I'm going to hear but it's always incredibly interesting. I enjoy Death, Sex, and Money most of the time. Anna has a great voice and wonderful style. I just finished the episodeThe children of Heart Mountain. It’s a shame, but the female speakers (not the host) on this show have such bad elocution skills that it’s sadly impossible to listen to the interesting content.
