“You can tell these guys love the cultural cryptozoology of the content - but sometimes it feels like they love the way they sound talking about the content more.
Now, you might be thinking, “Well of course - that’s what podcasts are, dummy."
And in general: I’d agree with you. But you have to balance that with the actual info you want to get across or else, in this case, you end up with a poor man’s Upright Citizens Brigade reading Wikepedia pages interspersed with un-addressed issues better suited for a therapist.
It’s not the worst podcast out there - and really has the potential to be great with a little more structure and restraint - but for two guys who come from storytelling backgrounds (comics and film) they tend to lose control of the conversation - and the narrative - pretty regularly. You’re left wishing even ten percent more of the conversation was just spent talking about the advertised title instead of 20 minutes devoted to rambling childhood memories or wildly tangential pop-culture references.”Read full review »
