“Was re-birthing as a baseball fan in 2002 after taking 5-7 years off being young & stupid. The perfect time to listen to Mike and his Jays talk on the radio after the games. He introduced me to baseball again in many ways. Always grateful.
His Wednesday’s with JP shows used to infuriate me as you just knew Riccardi didn’t get Toronto and the fan base. I think it was 2004 when JP once said “It’s not a lie if we know it’s the truth.” after the team lied about the status of BJ Ryan’s injury. It was that day when I knew his reign was over and following this team was going to be a waste of time for as long as he was our GM. (5 more years of waste) I was always curious what Mike really thought of JP and why he didn’t call him out when he was patronizing the audience over and over again each week. Curious if he ever was told by the team brass to not push him too much in these segments. Or if JP told him himself to not push back on him.
Am I fan of Mike and I hope he starts doing some live game chats during the season. Do a watch a long ala YouTube or his company site. I think his point of views right in the moment would be interesting. (Only can do so much tweeting on X). I think this is the future of sports broadcasting.”
