Wishing for more
Every episode left me with new insights, but I felt most of the information was already known to anyone well-read on the crisis. This podcast was good, but left me with some regrets. Wish it addressed the 1985 document alerting bishops to child sex abuse in the Church. Wish they put greater emphasis on how clericalism among clerics is much more insidious than clericalism among the laity. (As it is right now, it sounds a little victim blame-y.) Wish they hadn’t provided a shoutout to Renew International’s “Healing Our Church,” as a quick look shows that it was not made with victims of clerical sex abuse in mind. Grateful this podcast exists and appreciate most of it, but still wish it were better.

I have found this series difficult to listen to at times but extremely well-done and thought-provoking. It has made me think that I might be able to be part of the change in the church instead of leaving it.
