I can relate to the name issue. Thank you for your vulnerability. My name is Kwame and when I was laid off I couldn’t get any call backs for jobs. So I started going by Kay. Kay got tons of call backs, Kwame never did. In school and college, teachers mispronounced my name. Middle school was the worst because Kwame the rapper was popular and I got teased endlessly about it. I actually wanted to change my name to Karen πŸ˜‚. I swore I was going to change it by the time I became an adult but then I learned to appreciate my name until I was laid off, not getting call backs with my given name hurt. It hurt that I had to americanize it to get a job. Why can’t I just be my authentic self? Code switching is exhausting.

I’m late but I’ve arrived at the party now, lol! Ty’s podcast is the truth. She really delves into topics that are difficult to unpack but necessary. The topics really speak to me right now in my life and the way she breaks it down is very helpful. You have a new subscriber in me girl! Awesome!

Thru everything that has happened in 2020 I feel as I’ve lost sight of myself (I’m sure that’s true for a lot of us) I was looking for a positive podcast to help me as I rebuild myself and This podcast was the perfect find. Can’t wait to keep listening
