An insightful look into a complex life. Irresistibly tantalizing narration. Well done.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I felt as if I could imagine parts and although it was an emotional rollercoaster, this is the reality of a Man’s life. So much work has gone into making this series possible. A precious journey no doubt. Thank you for sharing, although I wish I hadn’t binged...Read full review »

This is a compulsive listen, I simply couldn’t stop once I started. Saul took me on a deep mesmerising journey to meet his dad, his family and his dad’s mysterious past. This is investigative journalism at its best. Be prepared to be caught in this web and lured into Christopher Wordsworth’s...Read full review »

Absolutely loved this podcast. Held me spellbound on my daily dog walks. Excellent storytelling. Christopher today would probably be diagnosed with some kind of disorder PTSD, bipolar, ADHD, etc etc and he may have got the help he needed. I liked him and loathed him in equal measure. Saul’s story...Read full review »

I listened to bits of this and skipped over parts as it’s a bit boring in sections. Also the main character Christopher Wordsworth is such a deeply unpleasant narcissist that I struggled to engage with the story. An interesting insight into some rackety bohemian types but overall hard to feel...Read full review »

I’m guessing the high reviews are from the same people who simultaneously discovered podcasts and fire in 2023. Where to begin… Firstly, who the hell gifted this dude a soundboard? He utters a couple of words and then blares sound bites and music (noise) because he thinks he’s so quirky and...Read full review »

An interesting personal study into an interesting character, but a tad overdramatised. The podcast title is rather misleading; I don’t think one could characterise Chris Wordsworth as a devil. A deeply flawed individual yes, but not evil or the devil!

This is grade A podcasting. A truly fascinating story narrated by a gifted storyteller. I tried to eke it out and to savour every second but I found I couldn’t think of anything else so listened any time, anywhere. Saul Wordsworth lives up to his esteemed name in a way his troubled, complicated,...Read full review »

A delightful and intimate listen

It’s a very calming podcast, interesting and intriguing in equal measure. The music is not so good, but it doesn’t deter too much from the story. If you’re listening and relaxing, the end title music is completely mismatched and will soon wake you up. Beyond that though, it’s very good.

There’s a lot packed into this podcast and the storytelling of the central father figure, his family and all those connected, and much to ponder after listening. I loved delving into this wonderfully rich, wild, complex, and beautiful life. A heartfelt journey shared by the son and author of this...Read full review »

Excellent, hard-hitting podcast into a flawed father. By his son. The research involved must have been a real labour of love. Beautifully narrated. The subject’s unwritten great novel has, in many ways, been completed by his son, revealing his literary genius….and many of his secrets and...Read full review »

I’m sorry but anyone who leaves/ignores their children are complete arseholes. Just because he read a few books doesn’t take away from that. He seemed to be a narcissist to be honest. Middle class crap… if he’d been working class there would be no podcast. Sarah Manchester UK

I enjoyed this podcast so much - I found it very hard to wait for the next episode. It gave a fascinating insight into Christopher Wordsworth’s character and made me think a lot about the influences and experiences that make us. Amazingly atmospheric music too!

I started this podcast and stopped within a few minutes because the voices of those interviewed are muffled.

The story is engaging, resonant, and leaves you always wanting more. It is a glimpse into another world. I hope there will be more episodes! I want to know more about Spratt!
