Garrett Phillips was a small-town boy in upstate New York. His mother, Tandy Cyrus, had just broken up with a man of color, one of the only in this predominantly white town. She even had begun rekindling with a cop she dated once before: a cop who had stalked her, abused her, sued her and threatened her during and after their relationship. Needless to say, Garrett's life wasn't as quiet as the small-town boy's life should be. But on October 24, 2011, Garrett's life would be snuffed out by a mystery hand, and suddenly, Tandy's track record in dating calls into question the first and only suspect for a homicide investigation gone bad.
