“A great piece of documentary making. Solid primary sources; excellent and cogent writing; tantalising teases towards the next episode;broadcast-quality narration, which stands out from the fried vocals that common in contemporary radio and that render unlistenable much of the podcasts emanating from North America; clarity provided when needed, as evidenced in the delineation of Capt Kelly and John Kelly. I’ve been a long-term listener to RTE and I binge-listened to this podcast. I eagerly awaited the new episodes
My only criticism might be more an encouragement. I believe that Gunplot might be too detailed or too labyrinthine for a typical international audience. International listeners who are not familiar with Irish history might not realise the proximity of the Civil War, and the permeation of the civil war enmities throughout the 20th century. I believe international listeners would lap up an ‘appendix episode’ that could shine light on the dynamics at play prior to the events of Gunplot ... a prequel to Gunplot”
