Lovely to hear reference to Dolly's song "A Gamble Either Way" from the album "Burlap & Satin". This is one of Dolly's most wonderful tracks and isn't it so sad that the song "Daddy Come & Get Me" is based on a real family story. "The Bridge" a tale of anguish, pain and eventual suicide - excellently written song. Looking forward to the rest of this wonderful production.Read full review »

More reviews of Dolly Parton's America
Dolly embodies a deep human kindness and warmth, and this podcast does a great job of speaking to that. I’m a big sap, but the first episode got me all welled up with the Bigness of the sadness and love that is alive in Dolly Parton’s music, and what it means for so many of us.

The first episode is absolutely amazing. Hands down the best Dolly reporting I’ve heard to date. Fascinating topics, well researched, phenomenal content. Nothing is taboo! Thank you for making this podcast that the world really need right now. Let’s all try to be more like Dolly! Great job WNYC!

I was raised in TN and now live in Brooklyn. I was raised in a Panamanian household. I always knew about Dolly and Dollywood. I always liked her but never appreciated her until recently. This is a wonderful podcast that brings nostalgia and a profound look into the life of Dolly.
