“What makes this podcast interesting is that it starts with Dolly Parton, but goes wider and deeper. I don't understand why people complain it's not enough about Dolly. The title explains it. Also, discussing feminism and LGBT concerns isn't "political," it's just realistic. Jad is exploring how various Americans RECEIVE and INTERPRET Dolly Parton. I was highly amused by the Jolene episode, but some reviewers here have taken it way too seriously. OK, maybe it did go on a bit long on that extra fourth verse, but Dolly responded with laughter, and I did, too. I don't see a "leftist agenda," I just see different interpretations. Like some of the other recviewers, I am using this podcast as a distraction from constant bad news (that is, REALITY). I am a musician myself, so anything about the MUSIC really interests me, especially the part about the song Jolene being in Dorian mode; stuff like that is intriguing. There IS something for everyone here. NOTE: I always thought Dolly was something of a joke until the Ken Burns country music series. Then came this podcast.
