Wonderful show. In recent years it has transitioned more into a philosophy podcast, which is a welcome turn. Not because the econ content hasn’t been good - it has always been very good - but because Russ is a versatile thinker and an avid reader who really thrives when the scope of the talk is...Read full review »

If you’re looking for folks talking about economics, keep scrolling. For years this was a great podcast, but it’s pretty much just been “philosophical stuff that Russ is interested in” for the last few years.

This is my favorite podcast out of about 7 that are in my regular playlist. The content, information, points of view are amazing and invaluable. AT cost of only my time it is hard to complain; however, allow me to advise guests that after the 45 minute mark OMG relax or hydrate so you do not...Read full review »

Listen to Russ talk about how he handled the lockdowns shows the sheltered nature of our fragile elites. Many of us worked every day last year with 0 complaints; but Russ had “horror” when someone put a box in his shopping cart… Perspective shows us that Russ doesn’t learn well from observational...Read full review »

Econtalk has been a fantastic podcast that I have listened to for more than a decade. Over the past few years the topics covered have moved further afield from Economics. While many topics or books discussed are interesting these are not the topics and conversations that drew me to the podcast....Read full review »

In terms of quantity and quality the single best podcast yet created.

Russ is rambling and talks too much. Let the guests talk more and edit the interviews for length

Russ is thoughtful and the conversations on this podcast are interesting and insightful. If you don’t appreciate the view points and ideas discussed on this podcast, you’re probably on one extreme or the other of the political spectrum.

It’s clear that Russ puts extraordinary effort in covering salient topics and finding unique and knowledgeable guests - the insights they bring to bear is still mind-blowing Every. Single. Time.

Recently stumbled across across this podcast and have greatly enjoyed these in-depth discussions with such a diverse range of guests. Not afraid to ask tough questions. Also really enjoyed listening to audiobook version of his Adam Smith Can Change Your Life book. Lots of good food for thought....Read full review »

Russ has the qualities of a traditional scholar, he is apolitical, open minded with an opinion, introspective, well read, and interdisciplinary in his knowledge base. Always a pleasure to listen to!

I tried, but what’s your point?! I’ve heard LatinX and Privileged too many times. I’m not interested in what West Coast Snowflakes think. Don’t care what you’re selling, I am out of here.

Russ invites best seller writers just to pick on them and provoke them. His language is very ignorant and aggressive which leads to hostile, unfruitful ‘conversations’. Eg. Questions starting with “You argue in your book…”, “How would you defend that?”, “That’s stupid.“

Another wrong assertion. Teump’s administretion did purchase enough vaccine to vaccinate all Americans. Read the CBO report.

The ability to interview well is rare. Russ is able to draw the best out of his guests even if he disagrees with their viewpoint. A wide variety of topics, not just economics. Do your mind a favour and stoke it with the best thought fuel in podcast form.

Tuesday through Sunday mornings, the promise of a cup of coffee rouses me from bed in the morning. But on Monday morning, the excitement of a newly dropped Econtalk is what does it. I often listen twice!

I just listenEd to Russ’ interview with Stephen Kotkin about the legacy of Alexandr Solzhenitsyn. Russ used to push the way I and , I believe, his guests think about economics and the way the world works. Listening to the conversation with John Cochrane is making me dumber! It is whiny, opinionated without any sort of basis in actual reality. It is like listening to middle schoolers argue. Ugh, I’m done with this podcast!

EconTalk covers such a broad range of topics, I dare say it’s a podcast more about life than Econ. The guests are almost all masters in their fields that I am grateful to be exposed to, and the conversations delightful. Most of all, Russ is such an excellent host and human.

Russ recently claimed in one of his shows that you couldn’t be addicted to his podcasts cause they don’t come out fast enough. Little does he know there exist archives dating back to 2006.... when my addicted brain can’t wait for next Monday’s episode, I satisfy it by digging into them.

Russ is a great interviewer. He actually reads the books of the authors he interviews and while listeners will know his opinions, he’ll make sure that arguments from opposing views are discussed and given some air time. Thank you Russ for helping me learn so much about the world.
