Amazing Resource for Med Students During Clerkship Years
Every medical student has that moment, somewhere at the tail end of third year, where they start to feel like they "get it" -- where they start to feel like doctors. Correlation may not equal causation, but that moment for, for me, occurred about 10-podcasts-deep into listening to Steve Carroll's remarkable contribution to FOAMed. Hearing his (well-researched, carefully presented) thought process as he worked through some of the fundamental chief complaints of emergency medicine really helped me understand the thought process that my residents/attendings were working through as they interviewed and examined their patients. And it helped me to do the same. I have now listened through all of the EM Basic podcasts -- several times -- and still go back after patients who present with podcast-covered complaints. My only regret is not having discovered this podcast sooner. Anyway, in sum, amazing podcast -- I recommend it to all my fellow med students, whether or not they are going into EM. Keep up the great work, Steve Caroll. Zach Skaggs USC-KeckRead full review »
