lowkey makes americans seem lower class than brits; aside from that, it’s a brilliant podcast

The host is bluntly judgmental from the very start.

Good to hear the perspective from the British survivors and families of the 30 deceased citizens. The Waco tragedy still resonates 30 years later 🙏

Being from the US, I wasn’t aware of this connection! I appreciate hearing the story from a different angle, really well done.

Really well produced and extremely insightful. Shocking that people still follow this man.

Great podcast. Very well researched and narrated. If you have an interest in the events at Waco you will have plenty of material from the US to examine. This aspect, from the UK, adds another dimension to understanding the phenomenon, as Waco is indeed a long way from the rainy streets of...Read full review »

I remember the inquest at London Road fire station (the last coroner’s court to be held there). I think Mcr felt Sam’s pain

Loved this podcast so much that I have done my first ever review. Fascinating insights into Waco, what went wrong and the impact of the tragedy on those left behind.

Waco is fascinating. Cults are fascinating. The interviews in this show are interesting - but this series seems to meander. It’s a great story but the podcast doesn’t try to bring the audience in with ‘what happens next…’ In fact story here feels sluggish, and the interviewer’s questions are...Read full review »

Hi!
This is such an interesting pod; so good to get well-balanced information about this frightful debacle
tracerapottsy via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/14/21
Even the most basic information is wrong - it’s like they simply spoke to whomever they came across and took them at their word, without any type of research of verification. They trot out a lot of the rumours that have been disproven as fact, and ignore anything that could cast any of the...Read full review »

Loved this. I hadn’t realised the Manchester connection, on my doorstep. The poor guy who lost his whole family, heartbreaking as it was for everyone who lost people. Professionally presented as always. Thank you

Also terrifying recount of how people got sucked into the cult as well as the fallout
lilyredford via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 06/12/21
A great story. I remember those images on the news of Mount Carmel burning. It’s brilliant to hear the stories of those from Manchester who joined that cult. Love these Radio 5 live podcasts. Gripping, unbelievable human story of manipulation by a disillusioned David Kurresh.

One of the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Moving, horrifying, and done so respectfully. Definitely worth a listen.
ElizaMoore13 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/07/21
This is Branch Davidian cult from the point of it’s members and the families they left behind.
EnidaV via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 01/05/21
An interesting subject, but it gets bogged down in overlong back stories, and too much descriptive detail and conversation as a way of building atmosphere leading up to important events. It needed pruning in lots of places so the narrative moved faster.
Geurie via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/16/20
A really insightful podcast with a balanced and sensitive approach. The presenter is conversational and relaxed in his tone, helping the listener to stay engaged and fully engrossed in each episode. Extremely eye opening for anyone not aware of this disaster.

I was little when Waco happened. I have just finished the series. I never realised there were any British victims of this tragedy. What this podcast brings to light is the important role the victims family’s can bring to educating a listener in long lasting impact such a tragedy has on the...Read full review »

This is a well researched and told story. I remember this event well but didn’t have a clue that so many Brits were part of this tragedy. Thanks for telling this very sad story. What made so many seemingly normal people follow this lunatic all the way to the grave and what can we as a caring...Read full review »

I was in my early twenties when this happened and I hate to say this but I don’t remember this awful tragedy . But as a Londoner I appreciate the work done reminding us and giving an insight to what happened . To everyone involved and especially Chris who was brilliant.

Fantastic podcast. Very gripping as it follows the british people that join a cult leader in Waco, Texas. Such a fascinating story and how it has affected all the families and the survivors. I highly recommend this.

Title says it all. Especially the account given by reporter (Danielle McKormick?) You can actually hear her fumbling when asked for supporting evidence or sources!

Now investigate ATF, go back to Ruby ridge. Is there corruption in these agencies? A good investigation looks at BOTH sides

Just finished watching Waco on Netflix and I have learned that it is always good to follow up with multiple sources of additional information after these docu-dramas. Very good listen. Most podcasts for me are all about the Narrator, but here you have a great story and a great voice. Most people know the story, but there’s always something intriguing about stories like this.
PFLANO via Apple Podcasts · Ireland · 05/03/20
The story we all thought we knew but could never relate to or comprehend. BBC reporters break down the bread crumb trail of cult members attraction and then entrapment into this weird world in Waco Texas. Well done.

Like many Brits I saw the Waco coverage and it is a memory. I didn’t appreciate that it involved so many Britons and that nearly a third of the victims were UK nationals. It leaves me very cold that religion can be used to create situations like this to occur. More than that though is the belief...Read full review »

A brilliant piece of work. This is probably the best podcast I’ve listened to, and not only brings back the Waco siege that I remember from news reports, but also the dramatic and darkly disturbing behaviour of those at the centre of the Branch Davidion cult and the reckless use of US firepower...Read full review »

A Masterclass in podcast storytelling. I did not know about the Brits who died in the compound. Great to hear their stories, and relive the Waco story.

The story itself makes it compelling. But its got the unpolished unbalanced undergraduate feel to it. A bit too many ‘oh my god’ moments with hearsay interviewees, but brushes over stories or contacts that came from inside. Example - why was Bernadette not interviewed, or followed up after her...Read full review »
