Description
The students in this Advanced Reporting class (ENG 3500) were given the task of conceptualizing and creating a full journalistic, multimedia project. In doing so, the students learned to tell their stories across several platforms. Not only did they write traditional news stories, they also produced one or more piece of multimedia related to their topics. These features included photos, video and audio slideshows all the material collected and edited by the students. In doing so, the students became better prepared to enter the modern newsroom, where journalists now are required to incorporate different types of media into their reporting. For this particular project, Brooklyn In Focus, each of the students picked a story that illustrates life and change in this vibrant borough. The subjects ranged far and included areas such as the arts, development, the economy and immigration.
