Great Podcast : entertaining and informative - also a great illustration of the importance of good quality journalism for a functioning democracy. Loved hearing the stories from individual journalists working on this story: and the descriptions of secret “bunker” rooms with pizza boxes piled...Read full review »

Great podcast. Historic event told by the people who lived it. The narrator/interviewer kept my interest thru all the epidodes.

The inside story of the expenses scandal. Very well researched and produced. I have a new fond respect for The Telegraph and MP Norman Baker who shine in this otherwise grubby tale of how our MPs systematically dipped into taxpayers money for their second homes, smart TVs abs Duck houses.

Great storytelling, lots of interesting anecdotes. A subtle sense of humor, employed occasionally when needed. But overall this is a serious story about bad behavior by British politicians, and the inside story of how it was reported by The Telegraph back in 2009.

It was fascinating to hear all the hard and complex work that went into the reporting of MPs expenses. I never realised how complicated it was and how many late nights were worked to reveal the scandal. The podcast is well narrated and produced and each episode ends with a mini cliff-hanger...Read full review »

Such an interesting ‘behind the scenes’ insight into some really great journalism which reminds me of why good journalism is essential in this era of ‘fake news’. Kept entertaining by the unbelievable revelations of expense claims: a floating duck house! You can’t help but laugh in amazement...Read full review »

This show does a brilliant job of revealing all of the different elements and players that go into breaking a huge story. Not only does it give you an insight into the workings of Fleet Street but also the personal highs and lows of covering something so big and controversial. Well done The...Read full review »

This has been brilliantly produced. Well-paced narrative, insightful, and excellent use of layered sound. Brings to life the drama and excitement, of reporting on the expenses scandal. A great “behind the curtain” look at how journalists do their job.

Excellent and eye opening, even for someone who is politically in tune. Only issue is the way presenter sometimes cuts in over people to introduce them or talk about something else. It’s just a tad jarring. But other than that, excellent!

Never been a fan of the Telegraph but the expenses scandal expose is exceptional journalism and a reminder why we need a free and expressive press in the UK no matter your political leaning.

This is why we need a free press! People’s memories are so short. Why is anyone surprised that keeping the EU gravy train running is on most MPs minds.

It’s incredible that MPs got away with it for so long - and probably still do! This podcast is a timely reminder that the ineffective and dishonest MPs currently trying to unravel Brexit are by no means unique in their entitlement and double standards - it’s a systemic problem amongst all...Read full review »

Difficult to believe that this lot of MPs isn’t as bad as it gets. This excellent podcast reminds us of how entitled and greedy MPs raided the public purse. It’s also a great journo war story of diligent work and steely nerves, which ultimately resulted in some MPs going to prison. Definitely...Read full review »

Excellent podcast. Really well produced and hosted and a fascinating insight all the background work that went into breaking the story. And an important reminder of the insanity of MP expenses before the paper shined a light on it.

If journalism is the first draft of history then this kind of podcast is the second. Good example of a promising new genre (like 'Slow Burn' on Watergate) -- using the medium to tell a more rounded version of a well-known journalistic scope. I'm hooked.Read full review »

An important reminder of the scandal of ministers expenses at the time and hopefully remains a warning to those of today of the consequences of theft and misuse of public money.
