Excellent analysis, decent format
I'll give this 5 stars because it's one of my essential podcasts to get a thoughtful big picture discussion of the tech industry and more general business/econ insights. Ben is a great thinker and has consistently valuable insight. James is charismatic and I enjoy hearing his thoughts as well. My only hangup is that this is very much Ben's show, with James along for the ride. It somewhat reminds me of an old Platonic dialogue, with James playing the foil to Ben's didactics. You can see how this is somewhat helpful to teasing out Ben's nuanced views: often Ben expresses a view, James agrees in general terms, and then Ben pivots to attacking the view and ultimately articulating his more complex position. This works fine, but I do sometimes wish James was a bit more of a player in the conversation. James seems like a smart and interesting guy, but obviously not as willing as Ben to be confrontational/ aggressive, which results a bit in him being passively led around the discussion. I don't think these guys could do it any other way, and the end product is very much worth listening to, so again I think it's a 5-star product. But just a heads up that while the content saves it, the style is a bit workmanlike.Read full review »

Ben Thompson and Jams Allworth speak with great focus on the topic on hand. They have the same caliber as of John Gruber, John Siracusa, Marco Arment, Horace Dediu, Dan Benjamin or Leo Leporte in examining tech trends.

Not your average tech podcast. They like to go in-depth into business models, product development, and go to market strategies. Really well thought out topics- very interesting.

Awesome podcast. The hosts seem so smart to me that is like have a fireside chat with your favourite MBAs about technology and digital economy. Absolutely recommended. Cheers from Peru.
