Easy to digest, but goes into detail. I would recommend this to anyone interested in ancient peoples.

Absolutely love this podcast, thank you so much for all of the hard work to create this truly multidisciplinary and at the same time incredibly entertaining show.

Really brings to life civilizations that have been dead (or in several cases killed by the Spanish) for hundreds or thousands of years. Paul does a great job of challenging the received narrative about some collapses, particularly that of Rapa Nui. If you enjoy history it’s an absolute must!

I really enjoy this podcast. I’ve never felt so thoroughly taken in by history. Especially how we are possibly now standing on the edge of political and environmental oblivion.

I just finished the entire series of episodes and loved it all. Each episode goes into great depth and fully excavates each civilization, from its geologic beginnings to its growth and place in the world, to its struggles and ultimate demise. Excellent work by Mr Cooper.

No doubt, this podcast is fascinating! I’m finishing up the episode on the Khmer empire so I’ve still got a ways to go. I’m also hoping things change a bit as far as the meta narrative (something I realize is unavoidable when talking about the fall of civilizations and history in general). ...Read full review »

Well organised and very clearly narrated. Though there’s a little atmospheric background music, I’m so happy it hasn’t been overly ‘jazzed up’. Thank you for such fascinating podcasts.

Listened to the episode of the Aztecs, absolutely enjoy every minute of it. Great storytelling, source reviewing and interesting details. Somehow he is able to cover both width and depth of the history. I’ll jump right into the next one ☺️

Came to this podcast late so currently working through the back catalogue. Each episode is so interesting and addictive it won’t take long though. Brilliantly insightful and well narrated, providing fantastic detail, highly recommend.

The stories told here are equally good on the podcast or viewing on YouTube where the videography is of professional quality. Mr. Cooper’s narration is excellent. Far better than Mike Duncan (the father of history podcasting), but with less detail as each episode is about three hours but tells...Read full review »

There are a lot of great history podcasts but this one is amongst the best. What really sets it apart is the narrator. The podcast is super interesting if you like pre-modern history. If you don’t though, it’s amazing on low volume. Something about his voice, and the description of far away locales makes me fall asleep within 20 minutes if I leave it on in the background.

Pretty lame for a historian to use his platform for lame Trump comments. The Trump obsession is pathetic, he’s not the first president to care about oil. I’m not going to focus on the other comments but I’m wary now of the objectivity of the information here.
