Skip if you’re conscientious about how you engage with true crime content
I could only listen to the first few episodes before I had to unsubscribe. A significant portion of the episode content is a voice actor reading the perpetrator’s testimony verbatim, which not only feels lazy from a storytelling perspective, but also graphically details the rapes and murders of many victims (primarily women) - so it’s pretty traumatizing to listen to. I appreciate when true crime content creators have a purpose for telling the story (they promote victim advocacy, education about the issues covered, explore criminal psychology from a place of knowledge-seeking, etc.), and avoid getting into unnecessarily graphic detail about the crimes themselves. This podcast is NOT that. This feels very much like “trauma porn” and centers the perspectives of the murders/rapists in a way that feels gross and unethical. If you try to be a conscientious consumer of true crime content and don’t want to support podcasts that use the traumatic experiences of the victims for profit, I’d recommend skipping this one.

It’s a slog that takes many more episodes than necessary. They could have easily gotten all information...Read full review »

This is very well done. The narrative and interviews are fantastic and the melding of family stories and history are seem less. Worth your time! Enjoy the mayhem.
