So repetitive I couldn’t take it anymore. Too bad because it was interesting when not telling me the same things over and over.

Literally the same episode over and over. Could have told the whole series in two episodes. Definitely not one of my favs.

Well worth the time and listen!

Why won’t the app hold my place when I can’t listen to an entire episode in one setting. Fix this, please!!! Otherwise, entertaining and well told.

Needed more of the people that were involved and less of the guy making the podcast.
Bud0121 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/03/22
Took long time listening to the same information in each episode. Otherwise, interesting tape recording re-enactments.

Enjoyed this very much!

I felt like someone was reading from a poorly written true crime book. I gave up on this after they branched out to the case from the 1800s.

Good podcast worth listening

You need to get better experts next time! None of them made sense and just kept repeating their opinion.
Bmajj via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/23/22
The story is interesting, But.. why do they keep content?? I had to keep looking to see if I was actually listening to the next episode. It’s very annoying!

Honestly this feels like a sympathetic approach to the killers of over twenty women. Stating that the killers mother was “wildly promiscuous” and that this way all her fault for him becoming a sociopathic serial killer. No thanks.

I was so annoyed by the repetitive narrative that I did not finish the last episode. While the story it’s inherently interesting the telling of it brought more pain than pleasure. Definitely quantity over quality. I think weaving other stories into the main story didn’t really work either. Not...Read full review »

Could have made this 2 episodes. Used about 10 to 15 minutes of the same audio every episode and then threw in a short story about the benders. Nothing to binge maybe listen to some other true crime podcast this would have been one episode.
Tholamule via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/05/22
Very repetitive, terrible audio, annoying background music that detracts and distracts. I was interested in the story so I tried repeatedly to listen, but finally gave up after ep 2

It was good, but I heard the same interrogation over and over. I feel like they were just making episodes longer by coming back to the same lines. It gets old. The overall story is interesting without repeating the content.
mistydawn82 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/25/22
Such a great story. But just like others have said, terrible podcast design. I feel like you could listen to an actual podcast that reviews this issue in 1 episode. How I made it to episode 3 I’m not sure. But I will not be listening to anymore from this.

It says it’s available starting 1/4 but it won’t let me listen because i’m not subscribed ?

The story is really interesting, but they clearly didn’t have enough information to fill 6 episodes. A lot of repetition, particularly with interviews and audio clips. Then, for a few episodes they got really desperate to fill time and shoe-horned in a completely unrelated story about a family...Read full review »

I don’t know who thought this was a good idea to release as is, but it’s extremely redundant. The same recordings played over and over. Also, the random sidetrack story about the Bender family from the 1800s made it even more confusing. They weren’t even related to the main story. Not sure...Read full review »

I am sure the story is interesting when told straight through, but the set up this series is terrible. They keeping repeating information to fill up time. I gave up after Episode 2- it’s not worth my time to listen to 50 minutes of an episode with fifteen minutes of add and 10 minutes of actual...Read full review »

The story is interesting but they definitely didn’t have enough content to fill the season so the runtime is padded with the same audio clips over and over again. Listen to the Small Town Murder episode about this family. They cover everything in a couple of hours.

With each episode, I thought “I’ve heard this all before.” The content keeps repeating literally the same material over and over again. I’d never heard of Taylor and McCrary but enough is enough. If you’re reading this review, take it from me - listen to the first episode and then stop.

Eh
It was good untill you start with the benders i got lost so turned it off

I’m pretty surprised a company actually released this podcast in the form it was released. Terribly organized and beyond repetitive.
JohnnyVince7 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/13/22
It was good, but didn’t like how so much of the same “recordings” was repeated in each episode especially at the beginning of each episode. A few times I had to double check that I was listening to the previous episode again. Worth a listen though.
MF2016 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/12/22
If you listen to the first episode you’ve listened to them all. The other episodes repeated the same information, even down to the same exact recordings, so it was kind of confusing to understand what the case actually is and what point they’re trying to make. Also, the background music is way...Read full review »

The story itself is very interesting. However, some audio snippets are played and replayed ad nauseoum in every single episode.

Host is about as bright as a 10watt table lamp. Deadpan voice. Also took him literally 5 minutes to explain what I was GOING to hear on this podcast series. Interesting story, horse poop podcast.
bcpretzel via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/09/22
Sooo repetitive. This story could’ve been told in 1, maybe 2 episodes. I had to push myself to finish it out, and now I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of time for a repetitive story

Yes, a bit repetitive and I was left wanting more. Overall I thought this was an informative podcast about a bone chilling story. Ethan Garbone(sp?) is amazing as the voice of Carl Taylor. Actually the best voice actor I have ever heard. You will feel sick and angry after listening to this. As I...Read full review »

I am so intrigued by this story but some of the way it is being told is not what I have come to expect from true crime podcasts. Very repetitive only a little new information each episode. Lots of problematic assumptions made blaming the daughter/wife as being the reason it all happened. Although...Read full review »

Two men murder and rape young women. Somehow Ginger (their female relative) gets the blame because she likes spending money. She wasn’t there but got the blame! Sexism doesn’t belong in 2022.

This podcast used the same material for all 7 episodes, crazy!!!! I kept hoping for something different, more. It’s not there. Don’t waste your time.

So repetitive and stretched out to the point that it actually became confusing. Lost interest.

Interesting story although, the background music is too loud and distracting.

So many of the episodes were just a repeat of previous episodes. Was there not enough research or analysis for 6 whole episodes?

I don’t know that I’ve ever reviewed a podcast before, but I was so disappointed. Long stretches are spent on recreations of jailhouse tapes of an unreliable narrator- the criminal himself. Other info that’s presented directly contradicts what’s said in these tapes, but that’s never pointed...Read full review »

Way too repetitive. Painfully repetitive. Could’ve wrapped this in two episodes

I had never heard of this crime family so the story was very interesting to me. My only complaint is the music often overpowered the narration and interviews.

Repetitive, disjointed and drawn out. Just get on with it! Also didn’t enjoy the actor reading the script. Found it to be unbelievable.

Wondery is not my favorite podcast channel, but usually the the production is fine and the story is interesting enough to listen to. Wasted a good story by stretching it out, taking advantage of subscription nonsense. Many episodes have repeat of previous episodes content for at least ten minutes. The same interview clip played over and over. It’s like this could of been 2 episodes and told the whole story well, but they had to find a way to stretch it out as much as possible. It was well narrated, well researched. But it felt like an old episode of Case Files from the old A&E network.
