Secrets are illusions
This is a well done podcast; a sensitive, intelligent host who isn’t full of herself & lets her guests tell their story, in their own way, without too much interruption. When listening to stories about family secrets, I am always struck by the lengths people go or went to hide a perceived embarrassment; the illusion they silently portrayed to be “acceptable” to the world & the inner torment which often takes place when the truth is discovered. It’s also worthy to note that much of this sort of thing, in the past, was due to putting some religious conviction before the thoughts, feelings & mental well being of the individuals involved. My heart always goes out to those who have experienced such a thing & the courage they show to tell their stories.

I want to hear more of these interesting stories! I’m so annoyed that I have to keep listening to the host go off on these overdramatic tangents about shame and comparing her own story to every situation. Let the stories speak for themselves!
